A professional qualification in the management of student work experience is now available.

Developed in association with National Association of Student Employment Services (NASES), NCWE and Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) the University of Warwick offers a postgraduate certificate, a postgraduate diploma and a Masters, specifically tailored for practitioners in this area.

The overall aim of these qualifications is to provide a professional development programme for practitioners involved in the management of student work experience across the educational sectors. The programme covers major areas to enhance professional practice in working with students, employers and establishing links between the curriculum and student work experience. The modules available include:

  1. The recruitment process
  2. Learning from work experience
  3. Employer relations
  4. Enhancing the effectiveness of your service (diploma only)
  5. Marketing the service (diploma only)
  6. Management (diploma only)
  7. Special Study
  8. Dissertation (masters only)

Entry is open to anyone working in the field of student work experience, including work related learning, job shops, student volunteering and placement centres or similar services.

Whilst the qualification is taught at postgraduate level and successful completion will lead to the award of a postgraduate certificate, diploma or Masters, applications are considered from those without a first degree, although experience and a keen interest in this field are essential.

The programme is delivered through a mixture of distance learning through an online virtual learning environment and some three-day residential courses, giving you an opportunity to mix with others in similar roles and positions while you learn.

This is an important and growing sector and this qualification offers you an exciting opportunity to further your own professional development.

You can also find out more about the qualification on the University of Warwick Career Studies Unit website.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the qualification you can contact Gill Frigerio, Course Director on 024 7615 1390 or G.Frigerio@warwick.ac.uk.
